Hello guys..!!!
INTROSPECTOR here...
Today I'm back with another topic which is "HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED", I know when people read this headline they will be like... pfft, what a crap..!!?? but the people who know MOTIVATION as some emotional boost will only feel so. But believe me, people MOTIVATION is a lot more than that. Let's proceed to know...
WHAT IS MOTIVATION?
Motivation is nothing but a general willingness to complete a task. yeah, its that simple. Sometimes we don't even have 1% of willingness to do a task and this is what we call a lack of motivation. So to make it simple, motivation is nothing but maintaining that willingness to do what needs to be done every time.
WHY DO WE LOSE MOTIVATION?
There are many reasons for us to be de-motivated and one of them is that we simply don't work according to passion, but we work according to our paycheck. Yes..!!! Not doing what we love is the greatest reason for us to lose the will to work at all.
The second reason we are way too much into distractions. Even we are involved in the profession of our passion we don't feel like working when we face obstacles because we are not focused, committed. We put our time for chilling and entertainment etc.
The Third reason is not having the routine which will help you to move forward. We work randomly and don't follow a proper schedule. This will obviously don't give us any motivation.
The fourth reason is we don't have any written goals and aims to reach. This simply means we know where to start but we don't know where are we going and where we need to reach.
The final reason is you don't learn daily. Without learning, we lose control of what we are doing, why we are doing, how we should do it.
So these are the major reasons that make us de-motivated.
WHAT CAN WE DO TO STAY MOTIVATED?
I have heard people saying that to be motivated watch motivational speeches and read books. I wish that would help you in the long run. Listening to speeches and reading books is one of the factors that help you in staying motivated, but those are not the only factors. So let me move forward and tell you what do we need to do, to stay motivated every time.
The most important thing is to DO WHAT YOU LOVE OR LOVE WHAT YOU DO. Because without loving your work you cannot move forward, and I can understand that not everyone will find the work they love in such cases love the work that you do, make it interesting in your own sense, be innovative, try to be the best version of yourself. Find people who can help you in your profession and start to spend time with them. Because ultimately if you don't love what you do or do what you love you cannot work for long.
AVOID DISTRACTIONS: Now, distractions are crap...!!! And they turn you into crap..!!! This again takes us back to "DO WHAT YOU LOVE OR LOVE WHAT WE DO" because if we love our work it is apparent that we also enjoy it. So if we are already enjoying it we don't have to search for other kinds of enjoyment in the form of distractions.
DAILY ROUTINE: Plan your routine. And when it comes to planning the routine, it doesn't mean that you have to keep working all day. You include all sorts of activities in your routine such as you can include some breaks(gaps) and take rest. But make sure your routine helps you in developing your SKILL SET, MINDSET, HEART SET, and SOUL SET. Your routine can include early morning workouts, proper diet, work related to your own occupation, some fun time, some family time, writing and analyzing your goals and accomplishments, etc.
WRITING GOALS AND ANALYZING THEM: If two people are climbing a mountain what is the important thing they need? The equipment? The training? The teamwork? Favorable weather conditions?, yes they need all these more than these they need THE MOUNTAIN. Because how can you climb a mountain if there is no mountain to climb. Hence in whatever we do its very important to write our goals and aims. This helps us in measuring our progress. Analyzing how fast we are moving. what are the improvements and cut-offs to be done? Which really helps us stay motivated. According to a survey conducted on a class of students at Harvard University in 1963, the 3% of the students who have written goals are found out to be living very satisfying lives than the other 97% of the students after graduation. So WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS.
LEARN DAILY: It's learning daily that gives everything, it gives you new ideas, new methods, new habits, new skills, new approaches, improvements, new abilities, and simply A NEW WAY OF LIFE. And there are so many ways of learning like books, blogs, videos, people and finally you can learn a lot from your own journey. I always believe in being a learner to be an earner.
And these are the factors (according to me) that you can use to stay motivated.
EXTRA INFO :
I have found out that many people feel de-motivated because they set themselves with very difficult starts. Don't do that, always try to start simple. Because starting with a simple task gets us involved in the activity easily.
For example, we always put our earphones when we watch a movie on our mobile even though the surroundings are silent. This is because we get ourselves engaged in that movie mood by starting with a simple task of connecting our earphones. In the same way make a habit of starting simply like before you read a book you discuss with a friend, any supportive person that you are starting a book and discuss the content of back cover of the book which is very easy to do and you don't feel like avoiding it. In this way starting with very simpler tasks helps you a lot.
And Last but not least set your goals according to your abilities. This is called GOLDILOCKS RULE which tells us that humans love challenges but only when they are in the optimal zone of difficulty.
For example, If we need to play badminton with a 6yrs child we feel bored because there is no competition, in other cases if we need to play a match with Pv Sindhu we feel scared. After all, we are not that good at badminton. Here in both cases, we don't feel like playing but in the third case if we need to play badminton with our friend who is almost at the same level as us in badminton we are more than ready to play because sometimes we gain points and sometimes we lose. which makes it interesting. In this way we need to set our goals and aims considering our ability to work makes it more interesting to work and the possibility of reaching the goals is higher.
That's it, guys. I'm done with the post. I know it's long but I feel like it's worth reading because MOTIVATION IS WHAT GETS YOU STARTED, HABIT IS THAT WHICH KEEPS US GOING.
