Even if you did, you might not have done it in this way. So, let's do it in our way.
I hope you know that our emotions actually come from the biology of our bodies.
To make it more clear...
There are NEUROTRANSMITTERS and HORMONES in our body which plays a very crucial role in deciding our emotional behavior. Just in case, consider
EPINEPHRINE AND NOREPINEPHRINE :
These act as both neurotransmitters(carry information between neurons) and Hormones in our bodies. These are famously called "Fight or Flight" hormones. They provoke STRESS response in our body and brings out arousal of extreme emotions like FEAR, ANGER, and AMUSEMENT. If our body has lower quantities of these materials we may suffer from DEPRESSION.
TESTOSTERONE: This is mainly produced in males and produced in very little amounts in females. This hormone is mainly responsible for IMPULSIVITY, AGGRESSIVENESS, MOOD SWINGS & lowering levels of EMPATHY.
DOPAMINE: We know that you people might have heard this word a lot of times. So we call it the "Celebrity of all hormones". Mainly dopamine is a neurotransmitter that's involved in FOCUS ATTENTION, MEMORY, DRIVE TO DO SOMETHING. It is also associated with ALERTNESS, VIGILANCE. Low levels of dopamine can lead to DEPRESSION (again), ATTENTION DEFICIT, COGNITIVE ISSUES, COMPULSIVE BEHAVIOR, CRAVINGS, APATHY, and mainly LOSS OF SATISFACTION in life activities.
CORTISOL: This is mainly called "STRESS HORMONE". Because this is released as a response of STRESS. When it comes to STRESS there are 2 types of stress. They are eustress and distress. Which is simply a good kind of stress which is required to complete a task and the bad one which is required for nothing. So in case of eustress, cortisol is released which leads to SEIZE THE DAY kind of arousal, which can also be considered as CONFIDENCE and is often linked to tangible goals. Levels of cortisol go to normal once the task is accomplished. But in case of distress, the level of cortisol keeps on increasing and wreaks havoc in your mind and body.
OXYTOCIN: Our personal favorite 'OXYTOCIN' is also called as LOVE HORMONE and the BONDING HORMONE. Plays a very important role in our SOCIAL BEHAVIOR. It evokes FEELINGS of CONTENTMENT, CALMNESS & SECURITY. Also helps in the reduction of STRESS, ANXIETY, FEAR. Deficiency of oxytocin can cause POOR COMMUNICATION, MORE ANXIETY, DISTURBED SLEEP & IRRITABILITY.
ACETYLCHOLINE: We call this the 'INTELLIGENT HORMONE'. Because it is in charge of CONCENTRATION & MEMORY. When its levels are optimal MOODS ARE ELEVATED, MIND IS FOCUSED & INTELLIGENCE IS INCREASED. In the same way, lower levels can plummet the ability to THINK CLEARLY.
I know that you are starting to feel annoyed and thinking of me as your biology teacher from your school. But here's the good news for you, all the biological part is done. Coming to the point...
It is obvious that human beings are emotional beings and they tend to depend on their feelings and emotions to deal with problems and people. Due to this it has become quite common that people are suffering from various kinds of emotional issues and many psychological problems. So my intention is to let you understand all these emotions, feelings, moods, impulses, ideas and psychological activities.... etc are nothing but the biological processes happening in our body. As there is a saying EVERYTHING PSYCHOLOGICAL IS BIOLOGICAL. And it is our basic need as well as our responsibility to take care of our own body because we now know that it not only helps us in physical activities but it also plays a very major role in our mental activities, only if we take good care of it. And I want you to seriously remember that we can always switch from one mobile to another mobile, one Gf/Bf to other Gf/Bf, one dress to another dress. But we can never switch from one biological body to another biological body and it is our ONE GREATEST ASSET.
The reason of flaunting my biological knowledge is to let you know that people nowadays are very much habituated to overlook their biological problems (Which includes psychological, physical, and mental problems) and acting as if they didn't get the permission(from God) to work on their own body. And also to give you a new perspective on your emotions and the way you handle them.
Conclusively, Knowing about the biology of your body is like having the owner's manual of your own body and health which you can use for your wellness better than ever.
